What database does The Housing Director use? The data is stored in Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005 or Oracle 9i/10g database Do you offer a web interface? We now offer 3 web interfaces for housing. The MyHousing Student Web Suite includes an on-line housing application and the main student housing web app. The main web app includes the room selection/re-selection process, plus student editing of their own attributes. It is a table-drive, highly dynamic we application that lets you set the parameters to fully manage the lottery process. The staff web app is for your desk staff workers to check students in and out. The web interfaces are written in ColdFusion MX, and will run under Microsoft IIS or Apache. Can The Housing Director be used on a network with the Access version? Yes. Typically, the database would be stored on a network drive, while the application itself resides on each user's computer. What if our school already uses (or will soon implement) SunGard Banner, Oracle PeopleSoft or another package? Our Data Interface Module can automatically transfer data back and forth between our housing/judicial/health packages and virtually any campus-wide student database system. We initially developed the interface with Gettysburg College, and it now can interface directly with any ODBC-compliant database, or with an extra step to interface with a mainframe system. There is no reason to be stuck with an inadequate housing module just because other departments are using that system. Now we also have a true real-time interface for exporting billing transactions, student data, and dining data. And you can import a student on-demand from within The Housing Director. Who uses The Housing Director now? We currently have clients all over the country and Canada, in sizes ranging from a couple of hundred beds up to over 8,000 beds!
